This is only applicable to existing, and new customers who signed up via Standalone QuickBooks Commerce.
QuickBooks Commerce now supports Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) as a means to enable a more secured login experience for your account. 🔐
We recommend that you complete these two separate steps when you attempt to log in.
- Enter your email address and account password.
- Authenticate through an app on your mobile device
By doing so, it becomes more difficult for an unauthorized person to access your account. Even if they learn your password, he/she will not be able to log in without getting past the second step.
MFA can be used on any QuickBooks Commerce account as long as it was not added on via QuickBooks Online.
Primary account users cannot set it up on behalf of their team members. Only respective users can choose to set it up for their accounts.
Enable Multifactor Authentication with an authenticator app
You will need to download an authenticator app to your mobile device in order to enable MFA.
Recommended mobile devices include:
- Smartphones
- Other mobile devices such as tablets running iOS, Android, or Windows operating systems.
The app will be able to scan QR codes and retrieve authentication data each time you log in. Recommended authenticator apps include:
- Google Authenticator for iOS
- Google Authenticator for Android
- Authy for iOS
- Authy for Android
- Microsoft Authenticator for Windows Phone
When you install an authenticator app, make sure that you follow its instructions carefully. After your app is successfully downloaded and set up, you can activate the feature in QuickBooks Commerce.
Activate an Authenticator app to use with QuickBooks Commerce
1 From your QuickBooks Commerce account, navigate to the Settings section.
2 Click on 'Company Details' and then on 'Team Members'.
3 Scroll and select your personal user account.
4 Under the 'Basic Information' section, click on 'Enable' next to Multifactor
Authentication.
5 Simply follow the instructions on the screen to download an authenticator app.
6 On the next screen, configure your authenticator app by either using a scan barcode and positioning your camera at the QR code on screen or alternatively manually enter the number code.
7 Next, enter the 6 digit code displayed on your device, followed by another 6 digit code. This syncs your QuickBooks Commerce account with the authenticator app.
8 After clicking on 'Continue', your browser should automatically download a text file containing 10 recovery codes. You can use one of these codes in the future if you are unable to locate your mobile device when logging in.
Remember to save this text file on your desktop/laptop. If the download does not trigger automatically, there is a link on the page to download.
