After you’ve installed your Shopify integration, you may notice some differences between the product structure and/or information between Shopify and QuickBooks Commerce.
Resolving these differences is important to ensure the right products are reflected when orders are synced from Shopify to QuickBooks Commerce.
Once you’ve completed the installation flow, you’ll see your Shopify channel listed under the My Apps section. You’ll land in the Dashboard tab where the diagnostics will automatically run and compare your Shopify products against your QuickBooks Commerce products.
This is also when QuickBooks Commerce links products that match perfectly and imports the products that are completely different from Shopify to QuickBooks Commerce. You will receive a summary email on the links that were established as well as the newly imported products.
Now let’s look at some examples on how to resolve these errors. After they are fixed, click on Re-run Checks to import or link any unlinked products from your Shopify store and refresh the validation.
Example 1
Here, you can see that the diagnostics have identified one product from the Shopify store that does not match what has been set up in QuickBooks Commerce. Click on the Download list of mismatched products to download a CSV file with details of the mismatch.
In this example, the Colour Pencil products in Shopify are set up as two separate products while in QuickBooks Commerce, we only have one product called Colour Pencil with two variants: Bubblegum and Galaxy.
On the Product Listing tab, you can see that they are both unlinked because although both have matching SKUs, the product structure is not the same between both platforms.
How do I rectify this?
Product mismatches can be resolved in a number of ways. It really depends on what the true differences are. Essentially, Shopify and QuickBooks Commerce should have a matching product structure. As we map products based on the structure between both platforms, this allows us to support and sync product descriptions, images, and other product attributes seamlessly. This is because QuickBooks Commerce should be used as a single source of truth for multiple sales channels.
Here are some examples of how you can re-align your product information depending on what the true state is.

Example 2

In this example, the Ball of Yarn product in Shopify has Blue, Purple, Orange, and Red variations in Shopify. However, in QuickBooks Commerce, the Ball of Yarn product has Blue, Green, and Rainbow variations.
On the Product Listing tab, you can see the status of each SKU. The blue variant has a matching SKU in QuickBooks Commerce, however it is unlinked because the rest of the product structure is mismatched.
