QuickBooks Commerce’s Relationship Categories
QuickBooks Commerce’s Relationships section will allow you to manage all of your supplier and customer relationships.
WithinQuickBooks Commerce you can manage three types of relationships:
- Supplier Relationships: companies you buy from that will appear on your purchase orders
- Business Customer Relationships: businesses you sell to that will appear on your sales orders
- Consumer Relationships: individuals you sell to that will appear on your sales orders
In the previous step, if you imported your inventory via sales channel integration, your consumer relationships associated with that sales channel will have been imported into QuickBooks Commerce from any unfulfilled sales orders. You will now only need to create Supplier Relationships and/or Business Customer relationships (if applicable).
Creating Relationships
There are two ways to create a new relationship in QuickBooks Commerce:
Manually Creating a Relationship
In this example, we’ll manually create a new supplier relationship.
From the Relationships section, click the “Create New” button located at the top right-hand side of the window.
Then click “New Supplier.”
A form will open up where you can enter the supplier’s company details.
Next, assign default settings to the supplier.

You can edit the details of a relationship at any time.
Now let’s add new contacts to the supplier relationship.
Click “Add a contact” located at the bottom of the contacts list.
Enter the new contact’s contact information and when complete, click “Add Contact.”
Uploading your relationships into QuickBooks Commerce via .csv file
To bulk import, your supplier, and customer relationships into QuickBooks Commerce via .csv, click on the “Bulk Manage” button and then click “Import Relationships.”
Follow the import steps.
Download the .csv template and fill in the fields using Excel or Google Sheets - don’t forget to save as .csv when you’re finished.
In this example, I’ll use Google Sheets.
Fill in the required information, save the file as a .csv.
Proceed to “Step 2” within the import section. Click the “choose file” button and select the completed template that you’d like to upload.
A summary will appear for you to review and then approve by clicking the “import companies” button located at the bottom right of the pop-up window.
Once processed, the new relationships will appear in QuickBooks Commerce.
