A Subassembly refers to a collection of parts put together as one unit. The components of Subassemblies need to be assembled first before the finished product can be put together.

The Beta version of TradeGecko for Manufacturing does not manage multi-stage Bill of Materials. For products that require Subassemblies, you will need to set up each Subassembly as a Manufactured Variant. In the above example, Subassemblies A, B, and C are Manufactured Products that have their own components. Each Subassembly will have their own Bill of Materials and Production Orders. The Finished Product will then be composed of the finished subassemblies.

The components of the Subassemblies also have to be created as either Purchased Products, if you purchase it from a Supplier, or Manufactured Products, if you manufacture the parts. It is important that the components and Subassemblies have enough stock to produce the Finished Product.

Once all of the components and Subassemblies have been created and the stock has been added, you may proceed to manufacture the Finished Product using its own Bill of Materials and Production Order.
